    The epicenter of Pittsburgh nightlife.

    Kinda run-down place...
  • Central Oakland Neighborhood, DBR96A (guest) wrote 16 years ago:
Some of the student housing needs to improve, but overall it's a cozy place.

    Eat at Tessaro's.
  • Washington's Landing / Herrs Island, DBR96A (guest) wrote 16 years ago:
This island used to be a dumping ground for steel mills, and also had a meat-processing plant on it. Then the EPA came in with Superfunds and cleaned it all up, and now there's townhouses and stuff on it. I hope it doesn't flood too easily here.
  • Schenley Farms, DBR96A (guest) wrote 16 years ago:
    I don't see any farms here. :o(
  • PNC Bank Consumer Loan Center, DBR96A (guest) wrote 16 years ago:
This is where PNC makes consumer loans.
  • Allegheny Center Neighborhood, larrylawr (guest) wrote 16 years ago:
Allegheny Common really could be nicer, but it is indeed neglected by public officials. That is about to change in 2009 when the large "Rivers Casino" open rougly one mile away near the Carnegie Science Center. Gotta love those casino's for getting the attention of politicos.

Unfortunately, Seagate Technologies is shutting this place down as a cost-cutting measure.
  • U.S. Steel Tower, DBR96A (guest) wrote 16 years ago:
    This building is very TALLLLLLLLLL.
  • Allegheny Concourse, DBR96A (guest) wrote 16 years ago:
Allegheny Center should be razed. If office space is at a premium, then they can build a few low-rise buildings that are properly aligned to a street grid.
  • Hyland Hills Apartments, Mac (guest) wrote 16 years ago:
Be advised: this complex also houses mentally ill and elderly people.
  • Fort Pitt Tunnels, bobralston11 wrote 16 years ago:
If you have never been to Pittsburgh, these tunnels are quite a sight at the northern end facing the city. The New York Times once called Pittsburgh the only city with an entrance.

  • Street With a View, Oops (guest) wrote 16 years ago:
Here's the really jaw-dropping bit....... apparently, the article was protected by a human and not some mindless bot. See here: http://wikimapia.org/wiki/Semi-protection I take back everything I've ever said about mindless bots. Anyway, what I'm currently unable to add to the article (that I freaking CREATED and have no intention of "vandalizing"), is that: ''Street With a View'' was conceived and coordinated by Robin Hewlett and Ben Kinsley.
  • Street With a View, Oops (guest) wrote 16 years ago:
WTF??? How the hell does a "Not approved" article get protected? That doesn't even make sense.
  • Street With a View, Oops (guest) wrote 16 years ago:
Oops - the outline should extend all the way to Federal Street.
  • Buhl Community Park at Allegheny Square, Ben Stampahar (guest) wrote 16 years ago:
