This bridge had been closed to traffic for nine years. The City of Pittsburgh hired contractors to demolish this bridge under an emergency contract. Inspectors determined the bridge was in such poor condition that it could collapse under its own weight. The bridge was a immenet threat to the residents living below it. The bridge was over 100 years old.
