Like so much of Pittsburgh, Allegheny Center (as well as the entire North Side) has fallen victim to the ineffectual political situation under which Pittsburgh has suffered for an entire generation. Solutions to these problems exist, but the namby-pamby nitwits and clowns that hold public office will NEVER rock the boat to as much as suggest solutions, lest they fall out of favor with the inbred, nepotistic, entrenched, old-money cretins who pull the strings. Good Luck.

Wow really? Thats a pretty substantial operation just to heat a few buildings. How does it get the heat to most of Oakland?

I'd recommend this place much more as a café than a restaurant. Don't expect much in the way of service -- don't think it's unusual if the server finishes a page or two of their book while you wait for menus, the food, or the check. Good milkshakes though, and the appetizers are cheap and just as filling as the main courses.

I used to work for this company, and while they're beer selection is great, and the people who work for them are wonderful (you all are amazing!), they're food has gone down hill over the years. If you're looking for a really great bar to take friends to and have some extraordinary beer, check out any of the locations, but if you really want the all around experience (pleasant atomosphere, great staff, fabulous food - except that they can't make big pizzas, oh and of course, the beer) check out the Sharp Edge Bistro in Sewickly.

Yeah, this is *not* the one where the child got lead poisoning in Summer 2007. That one is the Farmhouse playground. If you want to know why, ask the City of Pittsburgh.

It's a nice 20-floor apartment building. The pool and its surrounding garden are only available from the Memorial Day to Labor Day. There is a useful walking-passage to the starting stop of bus-line 71A. Parklane is managed by Mozart Management and its website is "http://mozartrents.com/pl.html".

  • Pennsylvania Brewing Company, None (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
Marking the easternmost point of Deutschtown, the Penn Brewery and its surrounds help bring life and character to a part of East Allegheny cut off from the rest of the area by a colossal interstate highway. Big pub, nice restaurant.
